Check
COLD / WARM / HOT
Say it like this
Nobody in the backfield — it's a pass. Rush four, drop everyone else, keep the quarterback in the pocket.
What can go wrong
In man or 3-deep zone the corners have zero help over the top — one beaten corner is a touchdown.
How we fix it
Keep COLD as the default answer most snaps and save HOT for known passing downs. Rep the OLB-to-slot walkout in practice so it is not first seen on gameday.

Front shift
Three pressure tiers as toggles. COLD: stunts and line games only, drop 7-8 into coverage. WARM: zone pressure with five rushers plus a spy. HOT: all-out zero blitz.
Coverage
Besides straight man or Cover 0, carry two-high zone shells — "DANGER" and "DIVIDER" — so the defense isn't forced into a no-help look on every empty snap.
Gap changes vs base
- •Both OLBs walk out to the widest inside receivers.
- •COLD leaves four rushers and gap integrity intact; WARM adds a fifth rusher and a designated spy; HOT abandons gap play entirely.
